Until recently, whenever I mentioned jeweled butterflies to my colleagues, they would go running to their respective corners; it seems you either love ’em or hate ’em. I always thought I was in the second camp, but lately I have changed my mind. Like heart jewelry and shell jewelry, which have graduated from seasonal motifs to year-round must-haves, unique butterfly jewelry is now flying off the shelves and “collectibles” websites. Butterflies on Runways & Red Carpets

There’s no doubt about it, butterflies are a hot trend this season…in printed fabrics, silk scarves, hats, bags, and jewelry. I saw this classic motif over and over at the Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear collections, the Schiaparelli Spring ’19 show, and at Bridal Fashion Week in New York.

Superstar Mariah Carey, who has just joined the cast of “The Voice,” has long worn a butterfly jewelry ring as her personal signature. Mariah’s butterflies (she owns more than one) are made of white and rose gold with exquisite diamonds.
